Artificial Intelligence in Today's World

Artificial intelligence has many implications in today's modern world. For instance, the Chinese government used AI to determine where certain areas of Beijing were effected by air pollution. Specifically used during the 2008 Olympics, this technology has continued its use today to know when the country needs to shut down certain factories based off of location relevancy.

As a world, we are becoming more and more reliant on AI. Many people deem "practical AI" as the technology that eliminates busy work. Whether it is answering redundant questions or completing the basic tasks of certain HR systems, AI has the capability to improve the efficiency of these tasks. Firms and agencies can use narrow AI for jobs that have too many positions and jobs that can be allocated to a computer.

In many practical ways, AI is used when machine learning systems are built for redirecting people to call centers. In another profession, police use AI learning systems to pull records on criminals. This is a way for the mundane tasks to be handled by a computer while the physical and more manual work can be given more attention. AI continues to develop but the goal is to continue to make it easier and more natural for augmenting daily activities.

How does this look going forward? Time will tell. We live in a dynamic time where we are beginning to enter the unknown. Artificial intelligence is a learning system meaning that it will have the capability to develop and improve itself.
